PHP Developer

We are looking for engineers to work with us on enterprise-level systems for both internal and external customers.

Communication is key to our business, and you must thrive on interaction with the team and the customer. You will have a proven record delivering scalable, efficient and modularised solutions, ideally with experience of web programming in an ISP/Telco environment.

You will have a track record of designing and implementing robust multi-tiered web applications and systems, on top of relational databases. You will have experience of working with Linux as a development environment and as a web server platform. You will have either an extensive knowledge of PHP or a willingness to transfer your skills from other web technologies into PHP.

You will produce quality-assured code to our published standards, and review code and documentation as part of our peer-review support programme. You will review functional specifications and produce technical designs, plans and documentation to support development projects.

Requirements:
• BSc or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline. (Equivalent training or experience will be considered)
• Industry experience in creating enterprise-level server-side web applications
• Strong grounding in PHP, or similar web technologies
• Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases, including design and implementation, preferably with MySQL
• Exceptional written and spoken communication skills and problem solving ability
• English as a first or fluent language

We’d love you to have:
• Experience in an agile development methodology
• Awareness of web standards and usability
• Experience in JavaScript
• Mentoring, coaching and knowledge-sharing experience

Salary - up to £35,000 depending on experience
