Windows 98 users may require their Windows CD during installation - Please make sure the Windows Installation disk is available before you continue.

Software installation

Before installing your PCI expansion card, you should install the driver software.

1 Insert the BT Voyager Wireless CD into your computer's CD-ROM drive. The CD will autoplay, bringing up a menu screen from where you can start the installation process.

2 To install, click Install BT Voyager Wireless Adapter and click Next when the installation wizard starts. You will be asked to read the Software License Agreement, you should continue by clicking Yes.

3 Next you will be asked to confirm where to install the driver files, if you are happy with the default directory, click Next.

4 When the driver files have finished copying, click Finish. You have now completed the software installation phase.

Hardware Installation

You are now ready to fit the Voyager 1040 PCI Adapter into your computer.

5 Ensure that your PC has been shutdown, unplug the power cable or switch off power at the mains socket.

6 Access your PC motherboard - refer to your computer manual or supplier if you are unsure how to do this.

7 Once you have access to your PC motherboard, locate a free PCI slot. You will need to remove the corresponding cover plate to provide an opening and fixing point for the Voyager 1040's endplate.

8 Firmly seat the BT Voyager 1040 Adapter in the PCI slot, ensure that you only touch the edges of the adapter. Also, make sure that no contact is made with other expansion cards or motherboard components.

9 Once the adapter is in place, fasten it to the motherboard using the retaining screw from the cover page you removed in step 7.

10 Return your PC's cover and ensure that all retaining screws are returned.

11 Plug the PC back in and boot up. Your new hardware will be detected when Windows starts up. You can confirm that the driver software has been installed because the BT Voyager Wireless Utility Icon Wireless Utility Icon will appear in the system tray, usually in the bottom right of your screen.

Notes on placement

The BT Voyager 1040 PCI Adapter has a moveable antenna. A better range will be achieved if the antenna is placed pointing upwards.
