Summary: Frequently Asked Questions of our Plusnet Premium product.
1. What is Plusnet Premium?Plusnet Premium is our all round package, ideal for gaming, regular large file and movie downloads, or if you've got a large family or work from home a lot. 2. How much does Plusnet Premium cost?Plusnet Premium is £11.99 a month for the first three months. If you live in one of our low cost areas you'll then pay £15.99 every month. If you live outside of one of these areas you'll then pay £19.99 a month thereafter. 3. How fast is it?You'll receive the fastest speed your line will support. This is 'up to' 20Mb (ADSL2+) if your telephone exchange and line supports this, otherwise 'up to' 8Mbit (MaxDSL). If your telephone exchange is upgraded to support ADSL2+ in the future, your line will be upgraded. 4. What's the contract length? If you choose to pay up front for line activation and hardware costs, there is a no-contract option. Alternatively, you can choose not to pay these fees and enter a 12-month contract. After 12 months, these fees are no longer due and your account will move to a monthly contract. 5. How much does it cost to move to Plusnet? There is a setup charge of £30. There may be other costs if your line is with a provider other than BT. If you're not sure, give our sales team a call on 0845 140 0200 and we'll be able to confirm. 6. What's the referral value for Plusnet Premium? You can see the referral values for all our products on our My Referrals Discount Information page. 7. What's the usage allowance?Plusnet Premium has a usage allowance of 80GB per month. Overnight use (between Midnight and 8am) does not count towards your monthly usage allowance. 8. What happens if I go over the usage allowance? If you go over your usage allowance, a further 2GB will be added and the charge for this added to your next monthly bill. This costs £2 per 2GB. 9. How can I keep track of usage?View My Broadband Usage will help you keep track. We'll also send you an email when you've used 85% and 100% of your monthly usage for your product. 10. Do I get a Dynamic IP or a Static IP?You get a Dynamic IP address by default. You can request a Static IP if you need it. Find out more about IP addresses with broadband products. 11. Can I move from another Plusnet product to Premium?Yes. For full details of moving from other products see our Changing Broadband Products guide. 12. What hardware is included? You can choose from either a 1-port wired router or a 4-port wireless router when you sign up. The 1-port wire router costs £20 up front, or you can choose to opt for a 12 month deferred contract. For more details see What's the Contract Length?. The 4-port wireless router costs £40 up front, or you can choose to opt for a 12 month deferred contract. For more details see What's the Contract Length?. In both cases, there is a one-off Postage and Packaging charge of £6.99. If you want to use your old modem or router it's important that you check with your current provider that it'll work OK first. Some ISPs lock their routers, meaning you can't use them with different providers. 13. Is VoIP available?Yes. You can add Broadband Phone through the Member Centre after signing up. With Plusnet Premium you don't get any included VoIP minutes, you simply 'pay as you go', so you're charged for the service as-and-when you use it. Find out more about Broadband Phone and how to get it. 14. Do I get webspace? No, webspace isn't included. If you need webspace you might want to take a look at Pay As You Host. If you're already a Plusnet customer and switch your account to Plusnet Premium you won't lose any webspace or CGI service you've already got. 15. Does Plusnet Premium come with domain hosting? No, hosting isn't included. If you need to host a domain you might want to take a look at Just The Name. If you're already a customer with hosted domains and move to Plusnet Premium you won't lose these. 16. Where can I see the expected speeds for different online activities?Go to our Expected Speeds page and you'll see downstream and upstream speeds for Plusnet Premium. You can also find out how different traffic is managed by going to our Traffic Prioritisation page. |
