1. What is Plusnet Unlimited?

Plusnet Unlimited is our 'all round' package for those who don't want to worry about usage allowances.

2. How much does Plusnet Unlimited cost?

Plusnet Unlimited Broadband starts at £11.99 a month for the first 3 months. If you live in one of our low cost areas you'll then pay £15.99 a month thereafter. If you live outside of one of these areas you'll then pay £19.99 a month thereafter.

3. Why does the area I live in affect the price I pay?

Under Ofcom regulations introduced in May 2008 we benefit from reduced supply costs at certain exchanges (known as Market 3 exchanges). We'll pass these savings on where they are available.

Want to know how much you'll pay for broadband? Go to our homepage and click on the 'buy now' button underneath one of our products. There's no pressure to buy, you'll just be asked to enter your telephone number and postcode. We can then tell you:

  • Your local exchange
  • An estimated broadband download speed
  • What products you can choose from and how much they'll cost

You can then decide if you want to carry on and signup to Plusnet.

4. How fast is it?

You'll receive the fastest speed your line will support; currently up to 8Mb. Faster ADSL2+ speeds will be available on our broadband products in the future.

5. How long do I have to stay with Plusnet for?

If you leave Plusnet in your first 12 months after receiving a free set-up, router or house move, we'll charge you for these. If you remain with Plusnet for 12 months after receiving a free set-up, router or house move these charges will be waived. You can also choose to pay for any of these up front if you want more flexibility.

6. How much does it cost to move to Plusnet?

In most cases this is free. There may be costs if your line is with a provider other than BT. If you're not sure, give our sales team a call on 0845 140 0200 and we'll be able to confirm.

7. What's the referral value for Plusnet Unlimited?

You can see the referral values for all our products on our My Referrals Discount Information page.

8. Do I get a Dynamic IP or Static IP?

You'll get a Dynamic IP address by default and you can request a Static IP if you need it.

9. Can I move from another Plusnet product to Unlimited?

Yes. For full details of moving from other products see our Changing Broadband Products guide.

10. What hardware is included?

You can choose from either a 1-port wired router or a 4-port wireless router when you sign up.

Both options are free, but postage and packaging costs £6.99.

If you want to use your old modem or router it's important that you check with your current provider that it'll work OK first. Some ISPs lock their routers, meaning you can't use them with different providers.

11. Is VoIP available?

Yes. You can add Broadband Phone to Plusnet Unlimited through the Member Centre after signing up.

With Plusnet Unlimited you don't get any included VoIP minutes, you simply 'pay as you go', so you're charged for the service as-and-when you use it.

To find out more about Broadband Phone, read About Broadband Phone and how to get it.

12. Do I get webspace?

If you're already a Plusnet customer and switch your account to Plusnet Unlimited you won't lose any webspace or CGI services you've already got.

13. Does Plusnet Unlimited come with domain hosting?

15. I'm an online gamer, is Plusnet Unlimited suitable for me?

Plusnet Unlimited can be used for gaming, however you might find Plusnet Pro more suitable. This is our dedicated online gaming product offering a connection with low pings and latency, plus it gives priority to all gaming and VoIP traffic.

16. Is it really unlimited?

It really is! There's no monthly limit to the amount of data you can use, although management is applied to some traffic at certain times of the day.

Management allows us to add capacity to the network when it's needed, and identify and prioritise the traffic on our network, resulting in a high quality service for everyone.

We already make sure that emailing, browsing, VoIP and other important activities run as fast as they can throughout the day - even if our network is really busy. This can mean that other bandwidth hungry activities like big file downloads, peer to peer and usenet run at a slower rate during the day. Read our Unlimited Broadband Community Site blog for more information on how this works.
