What hardware or software do I need to use Broadband Phone?
Broadband Phone can be used with softphones and Analogue Telephone Adaptors (ATA) that are SIP compatible.
Softphone is short for Software Telephone. A softphone is a program that runs on your computer. Numbers are dialed and the phone is managed via your computer keyboard and mouse; your computer's microphone and speakers are used for calls.
For convenience many people choose to operate their softphone via a USB Phone. A USB phone plugs into one of your computer's USB ports and works just like a normal telephone handset.
We recommend SJphone for use with Broadband Phone, see our setup guides for specific help with this. Other softphone solutions such as X-lite are also compatible.
An ATA is a piece of hardware that allows you to use a standard telephone to make and receive VoIP calls.
A number of Broadband routers are now sold with a built in ATA device, get one of these for an all in one solution.
