Before you can make calls from your computer with Broadband Phone you'll need to download, install and configure suitable software.
We recommend SJPhone, you can download it for free from the SJ Labs website. It's available for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux.
This software works like a telephone and allows you to make calls from your desktop.
1. Configuring SJPhone
When you first run SJPhone you'll be taken through the audio setup wizard. You'll need to select your preferred speaker devices and microphone on step 3, and the mic volume should be adjusted to whatever you find most effective (you may need to flip back and forth between pages 5 and 6 for this).
To setup your account:
-
Right click on the main window of the softphone, or click the menu link at the bottom and select 'Options' from the menu:

-
Select the Profiles tab and click New...

-
Choose a name for your account and type this in to the Profile name box. File name will fill in automatically as you type your chosen account name. Click OK when you're done.

-
On the Profile Options screen, select the SIP Proxy tab and enter the settings as shown in the following picture:
- Domain/Realm: sip.plus.net
- Tick the box for Use Outbound Proxy
- Proxy (URI): nat.plus.net:5082
- Proxy usage mode: Smart
-
Now select the STUN tab. All you need do is delete the contents of the Server Address box and leave a 0 (zero) in the box following the colon as in the picture below (if you don't do this you may get a popup asking for a positive integer).
All other settings on all other tabs can be left as their default and do not need to be changed:

-
Once you've finished with the above, click on the OK button and you will get a popup asking for your account name and password:
- Account: Your SIP ID (if you're not sure what this is, check the Broadband Phone Control Panel or the email you received after activating Broadband Phone)
- Password: Your SIP Password
-
Your account is now set up and you'll be able to use SJPhone to make and receive calls.
2. Changing Your Password
If you change your SIP password, you'll need to update it in SJPhone.
Here's how:
- Right click on the main phone window and select Options.
- Select the Profiles tab.
- Highlight the profile for which you wish to change the password.
- Click the Initialize button.
- This will bring up the username and password box. Once you have changed them click 'OK' and your new details will be saved.
