1. Broadband connection settings
These are the settings you'll need to connect to our broadband service with a compatible router. (Note: if you need fibre broadband connection settings see point 2).
The terms used for these settings can vary, depending on the make and model of your router. We've included the most common alternatives below.
| Connection Settings | |
|---|---|
| Broadband Username/Login name | username@plusdsl.net |
| Connection Type / Encapsulation | PPPoA /PPP over ATM |
| Password | The password you use to log in to this website |
| Virtual Path Identifier (VPI) | 0 |
| Virtual Channel Identifier (VCI) | 38 |
| Multiplexing method | VC Based / VCMUX / VC-Multiplexing |
Please note:
- The above table has everything you'll need to get connected with any ADSL compatible broadband router
- Some routers may ask you to enter other settings not mentioned above, you should be able to leave these as default or blank
- If your Plusnet broadband was activated before August 2002, your username may be username@plus.net rather than username@plusdsl.net
- Former Affinity Broadband customers will need to use username-pn@aihpipe.co.uk
2. Fibre broadband connection settings
You'll need the settings below if you're connecting to our fibre broadband service with your own fibre-compatible router. To connect with a fibre router we've supplied please follow our install guide.
Note: the majority of broadband routers won't work with fibre broadband. Most cable routers will work if they can use PPPoE and have an Ethernet WAN port, however we can't provide support if you have problems.
| Connection Settings | |
|---|---|
| Broadband Username/Login name | username@plusdsl.net |
| Connection Type / Encapsulation | PPPoE Always On |
3. Where and how do I enter these settings?
If you're setting up a router supplied by Plusnet, our Router guides will help you with this.
If you're using a router you've purchased separately, please refer to the documentation provided with your router.
