It's up to you. You can choose between a rolling monthly contract, or a fixed term contract with a lower monthly price.

All fibre optic broadband products come with an 18 month fixed term contract.
3. How much are they?
The price you'll pay depends on your broadband product, where you live and the contract you choose.

5. What's the monthly usage allowance?
| Product | Allowance |
|---|---|
| Plusnet Essentials | 10GB |
| Plusnet Essentials Fibre | 40GB |
| Plusnet Unlimited | No allowance, usage is unlimited |
| Plusnet Unlimited Fibre |
- Overnight usage (between midnight and 8am) does not count towards your monthly usage allowance
- Usage doesn't carry over to the next month, at the end of your billing month your allowance will reset to the level shown above
6. I'm on Plusnet Essentials - what happens if I go over my monthly usage allowance?
If you go over your allowance, it'll be increased by 5GB (at a cost of £5, payable on your next bill) until the end of the month
You can control how much extra you spend at Manage My Usage (found in My Account > Connection Settings).
- Go to the Manage My Usage tool and enter the maximum amount you're willing to pay each month on usage (ontop of your subscription price).
- E.g. let's say that you pay £5.99 for your broadband subscription each month. You've got the option of:
- Not spending any more than £5.99 each month. So you'd enter a limit of £0
- Setting a limit on what you're willing to spend on extra usage each month. Do this by entering an amount in multiples of £5
- If you reach or go over your spending limit, your speed will be rate limited to 256kb/s and all p2p, usenet and FTP traffic will be blocked until your next billing date. You can prevent this by increasing your maximum spend or removing your Manage My Usage limit.
- If you want to change or remove your maximum extra monthly spend, you can do so by going back to Manage My Usage and entering a new amount
7. How can I track my usage?
Go to www.plus.net/usage and log in to see details of your usage over the last billing month
To find out more about this, please see our View my broadband usage FAQ.
8. How is traffic management applied?
We assign all traffic on the network a priority, with the more time-sensitive applications given a higher priority. Higher priority traffic gets bandwidth before lower priority traffic. As the total bandwidth available is shared, this means lower priority traffic can be slower at busy times when there's less bandwidth available.
As well as prioritising traffic, we apply rate-limits to some products (but not Plusnet Unlimited) to make sure everyone gets a good online experience.
