We've recently emailed you about some changes to your Plusnet services.
On 1st January 2010 the Government is increasing VAT from 15% back to 17.5%. This means that we need to make a number of changes to our broadband and phone services.
Pricing for our Value, Premium and Pro broadband services will remain the same. Our Unlimited product will change in line with the VAT increase. All our other broadband services are returning to the prices we charged in November 2008.
We're also making a handful of changes to our Home Phone services at the same time, including changing our line rental, pence per minute charges, and the call set up fee.
- Why is line rental increasing?
- What are call prices changing to?
- Why is call setup fee increasing?
- Why are you changing my terms and conditions?
- Are any other prices changing?
- The price shown in the email is lower than I think it should be, is this right?
1. Why is line rental increasing?
Monthly line rental for our Home Phone products is changing from £10.95 a month to £11.25 a month. 24p of the 30p increase is due to the VAT change back to 17.5%. This means it's only a very modest increase in real terms of 6p a month, so our line rental remains very competitive.
[Top]2. What are call prices changing to?
Our call rate for UK landlines is changing to 5.25p per minute for chargeable calls. Remember that 01/02/03 and 0845/0870 calls up to 60 minutes are included at all times on our Talk Anytime service, or during evenings and weekends for customers on our Talk Evenings & Weekends service. Calls to dial-up internet and indirect access numbers are excluded.
We're also simplifying our international tariff, so instead of having different rates for daytime, evening and weekends, we'll have one rate for calls made at any time.
For all changes, check the call tariff.
[Top]3. Why is call setup fee increasing?
The call set-up fee does not apply to inclusive evening and weekend calls for customers on our Talk Evenings & Weekends plan, or inclusive calls made at any time for customers on our Talk Anytime plan. Inclusive calls are to numbers starting 01, 02, 03, 0845 or 0870, or international calls made using your monthly 300 minute allowance to our top 20 destinations.
The VAT change has resulted in a small increase to the 9p set up fee which we've rounded up to the nearest 10th of a penny, so it'll be 9.3p from 1st January.
[Top]4. Why are you changing my terms and conditions?
For a long time customers on different services have had slightly varied terms. We've now unified the terms, so we now have one standard set of terms and conditions for all our services. This will make it much simpler for anyone checking the terms of their agreement. Read the new terms and conditions.
[Top]5. Are any other prices changing?
Pricing for broadband services we no longer sell will return back to the prices they were before VAT was reduced to 15% last year.
If you're on our Unlimited broadband service your monthly subscription will be increased in line with the VAT rate change. The new price will be £16.34 a month if you're in one of our low cost areas, otherwise it'll be £20.42 a month.
[Top]6. The price shown in the email is lower than I think it should be, is this right?
The prices quoted in the emails referenced below only show the price for your first 3 months. Please see our Pricing Guide for confirmation of your ongoing price.
