1. What does the Anti Virus tool do?
Our Anti Virus tool is used to check emails delivered to your PlusNet email account before you download it. This protects all your PlusNet email but will not protect you from web based viruses or viruses delivered to other email addresses, so we recommend always running your own Anti Virus software to protect you from these threats.

4. Does activating the Anti Virus tool guarantee that I will never receive an email virus?
Most viruses are detected before they are able to reach your computer. However, you should always run an Anti Virus checker on your own machine to ensure that you are protected against all types of virus threats.

6. How do I know when I receive an email with a virus?
Emails are scanned when they reach our email servers. If a virus is detected, it will be deleted. You will be sent an email informing you:

  • That you have been sent the virus.
  • Telling you from what address you received the virus.

7. How do I get a quarantined email?
An email will be sent to you advising that an email has been quarantined. Reply to that email and the quarantined email will be sent to you. If this doesn't work, it may be because your email program is not including the original message in your reply. In this case, copy and paste the text of the alert email into a new email and send it to - unquarantine@quarantine.plus.com.

Note: Quarantined emails are held on our system for 7 days.

8. How do I know when virus protection is working?
Whilst virus protection is running, checked emails will be stamped at their bottom (message shown below). This will confirm to you that the email has been verified as virus-free.
