Filestore - Services Help

Tools
Keywords: tools | services | filestore Summary: Store key documents and share files worldwide from the safe online Filestore.

Filestore is the safe and convenient way to store personal files remotely or group-share important files. Choose to share, hide or give full access to your files or folders for a totally configurable online storage facility. Combine Filestore with your Virtual Private Network from the Security suite for a multi-levelled storage space, available from any Internet location you choose.

Storing files in Filestore
If your Filestore is empty, you will need to create your first directory. Choose to add and then enter your Folder name on the screen that appears. You have the option at this point of defining the Default File Permissions. This allows you to determine who can access files stored in this folder and also whether other members can download or delete and copy over these files. Define permissions by the different Teams within your group.

Once your folder(s) are created, simply click add and enter the file you want to upload. You can either enter the location directly into the File window or click Browse to point and click to the file on your computer.

Sharing and protecting files
When you create a folder in Filestore, you have the option of setting its default permissions for each of your individual teams of users. Whenever you load a file into your folder, you can either use these default permissions or set up individual settings for which other users can view your file. Choose from Hidden, Read and Read/Write options.

Organising files
There are no limits to the number of folders you can create or how many levels of depth you can create. Remember to label and organise folders logically if you are sharing your files with others.

Deleting files and folders
Filestore allows you to delete individual files or multiple files and folders at the same time. Choose the files or folders to delete by checking the checkbox next to each one. Click the Delete button and your files and/or folders will be removed from your Filestore.

You cannot delete a folder if you are not the owner or have not been given permission to 'Write' by the Folder's creator. Similarly, you cannot delete a folder if it contains other files or folders below it that you have not been given permission to edit.

Why can't I delete files or folders that I don't own?
You can store files in the Filestore to distribute them amongst your group, only give access to a certain number of members or store private files by hiding them from all other users. If you do not have permission to 'Write', you will not be able to delete the file or folder, or overwrite it with another file of the same name.

Extra storage
There is no limit to the size of your Filestore. You get 5MB of storage space included with your Services suites, with extra 10MB sections available for just £5 a month extra.
