    Plusnet Mobile services are closing FAQs

    Plusnet Mobile services will be closing from June 2024. We’ll confirm your closure date at least 30 days before your mobile plan ends. Please take action and move your service as soon as possible. 

    From June 2024 we will be closing all Plusnet mobile services. We'll confirm your cease date at least 30 days before your mobile account ceases. Once your account is ceased you won’t be able  to make or receive calls (other than emergency 999 calls) send texts or use your data.
You’ll have 40 days from your cease date to move your service to another provider. After 40 days your  account will automatically be closed. You will lose all of your services and it will not be possible to transfer your mobile number once your account is closed.

    If you want to keep your mobile number when you switch, you’ll need to request a PAC code. Just text PAC to 65075. You’ll get your code in less than a minute and it’s valid for 30 days.

    If you don’t want to move to EE

    If you don’t want to move your mobile service to EE, you can choose to move to another provider, free of charge. No pressure, simple as that.

    To find out details about your contract and any other outstanding payments:

    • Text INFO to 85075
    • Call us for free on 500 from your Plusnet mobile
    • Call 0800 079 1133 from any other phone

    Until you leave, you'll be billed as normal. After this, we'll cancel your service and stop billing you.

    1. Verify your account
      We’ll text a security passcode to your mobile, just to check it’s you. Enter your mobile number.
    2. Copy your unique code
      Your amazing deals can’t be found anywhere else, so you’ll need to copy your unique code to access them. Your code also helps us to keep everything secure.
    3. Use your code to unlock your exclusive EE deals and start your order
      It’s as easy as that!
    4. You’ll get your new EE SIM
      Your shiny new SIM will be sent by 2nd Class post. If you’re keeping your number, this will be transferred when you activate your EE SIM.
      If you’re getting a new number, this will arrive with your EE SIM.
      Your Plusnet contract will be cancelled, and you’ll be in the loving hands of EE, the UK’s best network. Don’t be a stranger mind.

    PAC stands for Port Authorisation Code. Put simply, it’s a code you'll need  if you want to keep your current mobile number when you switch to EE or another provider.

    PACs are 3 letters and 6 numbers long and valid for 30 days. They look like:

    ABC123456

    Get it free in under a minute by texting PAC to 65075.

    When you’ve unlocked your exclusive EE SIM only deals or selected an offer with another provider, just enter your PAC as part of your order.

    Your number will then transfer when you activate your new SIM.

    Don’t want to keep your number?

    If you want a new mobile number when you switch services you’ll need a STAC ( Service Termination Authorisation Code).  

    STACs are 6 numbers and 3 letters long and valid for 30 days. They look like:

    123456ABC

    Get it free in less than a minute. Just text STAC to 75075

    Enter your STAC as part of your order and you’ll get a new number once your account has transferred to your new provider.

    Just so you know, once you've used a STAC you won't be able to get your old number back. If you'd like to keep your current mobile number you should request a PAC.

    You sure can. To keep your number, you’ll need a PAC code. Your PAC code allows you to transfer to your number to EE or another new provider. Text PAC to 65075 and you’ll get your code in less than a minute. Just add your PAC code as part of your order. It’s as easy as that.

    You can still check your usage and billing information in the App, but you can’t change or upgrade your plan.

    When you switch your service to another provider your Plusnet account will close. There’s no need to get in touch, we’ll automatically cancel your account.

    • We’ll then send you a final bill on your usual billing date.
If you’re in credit we’ll send you an email to let you know the amount we’ll repay you.
    • If you pay by Direct Debit, don’t cancel this just yet, as we’ll pay any credit direct to your bank account. Otherwise we’ll send you a cheque for the credit amount.
    • If you’re not in credit we’ll email you to confirm your outstanding payment. This should be paid by the date stated.
    • Once your credit is refunded or your final payment is made, we’ll send you another email to confirm your account is in credit by £0. This means your account is now fully closed.

    All UK Mobile network operators have committed to closing their 3G networks. Plusnet Mobile is powered by EE and will be saying goodbye to 3G in January 2024.  This will allow EE to focus on providing faster and more reliable connections with 4G and 5G.

    If I’ve got a 3G plan or 3G device how will the switch off affect me?

    From January 2024 if you have a 3G plan or a 3G device, you’ll no longer be able to access our 3G network, so you won’t be able to access the Internet, use social media or messaging apps, such as WhatsApp, or make or receive video calls with family and friends.  You will still be able to make and receive calls and texts on our 2G network.

    If you have a 4G plan, you’ll still be able to use your mobile data to access the 4G Internet if you have a compatible 4G or 5G device.  However, your Plusnet SIM doesn’t support 4G Calling so will revert to the 2G network when making calls and sending texts.

    How can I get ready for the 3G switch off?

    We want to make sure you are ready for the 3G Switch Off and get great value, flexible mobile plans.     What is 4G Calling?

    When your EE SIM arrives put it in your handset and make a 60 second call to any number.

    Just a quick ‘Hiya, how you’re doing? Bye for now’…… should do it.

    This will start the activation process. Your mobile number will transfer on the following working day if your call is made before 5:30pm Monday to Thursday.

    After 5.30pm on a Thursday or at any time over the weekend, your number will be transferred within two working days. Just so you know,  we don’t transfer numbers on Bank Holidays.

    Once you’ve made your call, put the EE SIM in a safe place and pop your Plusnet SIM back into your handset and use as normal.

    When your Plusnet SIM shows 'No Service,' this means your number has transferred. You can now start using your EE SIM and get all the great benefits of being with the UK’s best network.

    Once your new EE SIM has been fully activated and your number has transferred, your Plusnet Mobile account will close, so there’s no need to get in touch.

    If you pay by Direct Debit, don’t cancel this just yet, as we’ll pay any refunds you may be owed direct to your bank account.

    We’ll send you an invoice to confirm any refunds or outstanding payment you may owe. You’ll also get another invoice when your balance is £0.
