Your Smart Cap limit applies to limit the charges that can be incurred outside your monthly plan allowance within each allowance period.
If you signed up, change plan or upgraded on or after 29th November 2016, we automatically set your Smart Cap to £10, but you can make it as low as £2, or you can increase it, up to a limit of £30 (subject to agreement – credit status may be considered). You’ll need to call us to do this.
If you signed up before 29th November 2016, we automatically set your Smart Cap to £5, but you can make it as low as £1, or you can increase it up to a limit of £30 (subject to agreement – credit status may be considered). You’ll need to call us to do this.
The Smart Cap has to be altered in £1 increments.
When you reach your Smart Cap limit, we’ll suspend any of those services you’d normally pay extra for. But you’ll still be able to use the minutes, texts and data included in your plan.
If you want to start using those suspended services again, you’ll need to pay off what you’ve used of your Smart Cap limit, or make the limit higher. You’ll need to call us to do this.
You can change your Smart Cap at any time during your plan’s monthly usage period. Where you decrease your Smart Cap, you are still required to pay for any chargeable services used before the Smart Cap was decreased, but only up to the amount of your previous Smart Cap.
We’ll try and drop you an email and a text you when you’ve used 80% and 100% of your bundle allowances and when you reach your Smart Cap, but we cannot always do so. For example where one call takes you over 80% and to 100% of your Smart Cap, we can’t interrupt the call when you get to 80%. It is your responsibility to monitor your usage and how close you are to your Smart Cap.
If you have one of our Roam Like at Home enabled plans, a data cap will also apply for any data use whilst abroad. You can change your data cap by contacting us. For details on how the data cap works alongside the Smart Cap, please see our Roaming and International Calls page.
You will be subject to our Mobile Terms. This “Here’s the legal bit” sets out the Offer Terms which form part of our Mobile Terms.
