Plusnet price guide for residential products

This price guide is designed so you can quickly and easily find out about all our service pricing.

All prices and payments quoted in this price guide include VAT (based on the current standard Government rate) unless stated otherwise.

Prices, content and terms may change at any time during your contract. We'll tell you about important changes in advance, and if a change is detrimental you'll be able to end your contract without any fees.

Product changes – 1st August 2016

The following product change will apply to some existing Unlimited Fibre customers from 1st August 2016 as set out below:-

  • We will be changing the speed of our fibre broadband service for existing customers who are on our Unlimited Fibre broadband service with download speeds of up to 38Mb and upload speeds of up to 19Mb to an Unlimited Fibre broadband service with download speeds of up to 52Mb and upload speeds of up to 9.4Mb. Any affected existing Unlimited Fibre customers will receive an email to confirm this. Customers may see an improvement in download speeds and connection times.

Price and product changes – 1st September 2016

The following pricing and product changes will apply from 1st September 2016 as set out below:-

  • Line rental will increase from £16.99 per month to £17.99 per month.
  • For existing customers:-
    • the Evening and Weekends call plans will increase from £3.00 per month to £3.50 per month.
    • the Anytime call plans will increase from £6.00 per month to £6.50 per month.
  • We will introduce two new call plans for new and existing customers:-
    • Evening & Weekend UK & Mobile Calls at £4.00 per month.
    • Unlimited UK & Mobile Calls at £8.00 per month.

For new Plusnet phone customers, the Evening and Weekends and Anytime call plans will no longer be available. Existing Plusnet phone customers can sign-up to the new call plans from 1st September. For more details on the new call plans, please see our FAQ.

  • For Plusnet Unlimited broadband only customers, Unlimited broadband only customers and Value broadband only customers:-

    • Plusnet Unlimited broadband will increase for existing customers from £12.49 per month to £13.49 per month for customers in low cost areas (otherwise from £19.49 per month to £20.49 per month).
    • Unlimited broadband will increase for new and existing customers from £12.49 per month to £13.49 per month for customers in low cost areas (otherwise from £19.99 per month to £20.99 per month).
    • Value broadband (no longer available to new customers) will increase from £7.99 per month to £8.99 per month for customers in low cost areas (otherwise from £14.49 per month to £15.49 per month).
  • For Essentials broadband and phone customers and Value broadband and phone customers:-

    • Essentials broadband will increase from £5.99 per month to £6.99 per month for customers in low cost areas (otherwise from £12.99 per month to £13.99 per month).
    • Value broadband will increase from £6.49 per month to £7.49 per month for customers in low cost areas (otherwise from £12.99 per month to £13.99 per month).
    • Our call set up fee will increase from 16p to 19p.
    • Geographic call charges to 01, 02 and 03 will increase from 10p per minute to 12.54p per minute, and mobile call charges will decrease from 13p per minute to 12.54p per minute.
    • Our engineer charge will increase from £50 to £65.
    • Our early termination charges will change. How much depends on your package.

† Fibre broadband speed is described as 'up to' because your actual download speeds will vary. We'll give you the best download speed available on your line. This is dependent on your location, phone line, home wiring and time of day. We'll provide you with a speed estimate when you check availability of our products. Find out why speeds vary.

Plusnet Price and Product Change FAQ

On 1st September 2016 we’ll be making some changes to our products and pricing – here’s a handy FAQ that covers everything that’s changing.

Why are we making changes?

Over the past year we’ve been working really hard to make improvements to our products and services that will make your experience as a Plusnet customer better than ever.

We’ve invested in our network to make it even more reliable, we’ve re-written and re-vamped all of our Help & Support content so it’s even easier for you to find answers to your questions, and we’ve launched a new and improved Community site where you can talk to other Plusnet users and get tips and advice.

Most importantly of all, we’ve been investing in staff to make sure we’re always available to answer your calls or chats at our UK call centres.

All this investment means that from time to time we have to make price increases so that we’re able to continue providing you with an award-winning service.

Which services are affected?

The changes apply to Plusnet line rental, home phone packages and some broadband packages, as well as some of our call rates, service fees and early termination charges. They will come into effect from 1st September 2016, and you’ll see the new pricing appear on your next bill from that date.

What changes are you making to line rental?

The price of our £16.99 a month line rental package will increase by £1 to £17.99 a month.

Line Rental Saver price freeze – save £30 a year*

Great news – the cost of our Line Rental Saver isn’t changing, so you can sign up to save £30 a year. With Line Rental Saver you pay £185.88 in advance for 12 months line rental, which works out at the equivalent of £15.49 a month, compared to our new price of £17.99 a month.

What changes are you making to call plans?

For existing Plusnet customers, these are the changes we’re making to our current paid for call plans:-

As of 1st September our Evening & Weekend and Anytime call plans will be changing, and for new customers will be replaced by these two new products:

Evening and Weekend UK & Mobile calls - £4.00 per month

Includes:

Evening and Weekend: Calls of up to an hour to UK landlines beginning with 01, 02, 03, 0845 and 0870 made Monday to Friday 19:00 to 7.00 and any time Saturday or Sunday (except calls to indirect access numbers (which include calling cards) and dial-up Internet access. Calls must be started and finished within these times to be inclusive (non-chargeable).

Mobile calls: Calls to UK mobile numbers made Monday-Friday 19:00-07:00 and anytime Saturday or Sunday Calls must be started and finished within these times to be inclusive (non-chargeable) Fair usage limit of 1,000 minutes applies. Hang up and re-dial before 60 minutes and you won't be charged.

Unlimited UK & Mobile Calls - £8.00 per month

Includes:

Anytime: Calls of up to an hour to UK landlines beginning with 01, 02, 03, 0845 and 0870 at any time (except calls to indirect access numbers (which include calling cards) and dial-up Internet access.

Mobile: Calls to UK mobile numbers at any time. Fair usage limit of 2,000 minutes applies. Hang up and re-dial before 60 minutes and you won't be charged.

If you’re an existing Plusnet customer and would like to update your call plan to one of the new products, you can do so from 1st September.

What changes are you making to individual call charges?

Charges have gone up in-line with BT’s new pricing for our call set-up fee (where applicable) and we’re making calls to mobiles the same price as calls to landlines.

What changes are you making to Broadband?

Unlimited Broadband only (broadband without home phone) will increase by £1 from £12.49 to £13.49 per month (otherwise from £19.99 to £20.99 per month for customers in non low-cost areas).

What other changes are you making?

The cost of sending an engineer to your property will increase from £50.00 to £65.00. Please note this fee is only charged in certain circumstances, such as if you miss the appointment, the engineer can’t access your property or, in the case of faults, the fault is found to be within the bound of your property. Our early termination charges are also changing. These charges are incurred when you terminate your contract within the minimum term, and are calculated according to which service you have, along with the amount of time remaining on your contract. You can see the details below :-

* Line Rental Saver is payable in full, in advance and provides 12 months standard phone line rental. After this, you can renew for another 12 months; otherwise you'll be charged at the standard monthly line rental rate. Line Rental Saver does not provide inclusive calls as standard. Any additional call plans, call features or call charges will be billed each month. In the event of a house move, Line Rental Saver can be transferred to the new phone line without penalty. If you cancel Line Rental Saver within 14 days of your order you will get a full refund of your advance payment. If you cancel after this time, Line Rental Saver is non-refundable.

'Broadband & Phone' customers will switch to the 'Broadband Only' price of the appropriate table if they choose to cancel their phone package.

Broadband and Phone early termination charges

Contracted Plusnet Broadband and Fibre and phone services are subject to a minimum term of 12 or 18 months.

Please note, early termination charges vary according to when the package was taken. Charges can be seen in the following tables and will apply to customers who cancel their service within the minimum term.

Customers with a phone package will switch to the 'Broadband Only' charge if they choose to cancel their phone plan.

Plusnet Phone price guide

We charge calls by the day and time they are made. The time periods described in this guide are as follows:

  • 'Daytime' means between 7am and 7pm, Monday - Friday
  • 'Evening' means between 7pm and 7am, Monday - Friday
  • 'Weekend' means any time on Saturday or Sunday

Call and bill information

A call set up fee applies to chargeable calls. The duration (length of time) of your calls are rounded up to the next whole minute before we work out the call charge. If your call charges are worked out without including VAT, they will be rounded up to the next penny before VAT is added. The VAT on your bill will also be rounded up to the next whole penny.

Plusnet Phone call charges

All prices should be on the Plusnet Phone call tariff. Due to the nature of the product, prices are added and changed regularly. We will always try to update the call tariff regularly. However, this may be different to or not show a call tariff you have been charged.

The prices for calls to UK local and national numbers beginning with 01, 02 and 03 depend on your choice of call plan and the time period in which you make the call.

Calls crossing over a time period charge band, will be charged at a pro-rata call rate for each time period.

The price for calls to mobile phones depends on your call plan and time of the call.

Any exceptions for numbers beginning with 0845 or 0870 are set out in the Plusnet Phone call tariff. Call charges for 0845 and 0870 calls, not including VAT, are rounded up to the next penny.

From 1st July 2015, the charge for calls to service numbers beginning 084, 087, 09 and 118 consists of a 9.58p per minute access charge from Plusnet, plus a service charge set by the company you called. For more information visit www.plus.net/ukcalling.

Plusnet Phone early termination charges

Contracted phone packages (after 18th December 2012) are subject to a minimum term of 12 / 18 (with broadband) or 18 (with fibre) months. The following monthly early termination charges apply for customers choosing to end their Plusnet Phone service within this term (excluding Line Rental Saver customers).

For any customer who cancels their phone service within the minimum term, a £6.75 per month early termination charge will apply. This early termination charge is not subject to VAT.

YouView TV from Plusnet price guide

The following prices apply to our YouView TV from Plusnet products.

YouView TV from Plusnet must be taken as a package with a residential Plusnet Unlimited Fibre Broadband or Unlimited Fibre Extra Broadband product and any residential Plusnet home phone line rental package on a minimum 18 month contract.

All YouView TV from Plusnet packages include the Entertainment and BT Sport Lite channel packs as standard.

* An engineer charge will apply where: (i) the fault could have been resolved by one of the checks we have asked you to carry out prior to the engineer appointment; (ii) the set top box was damaged due to your fault; (iii) you miss the appointment; (iv) or you cancel the appointment within 24 hours of the engineer visit time.

Where the engineer finds the fault is due to the set top box and you are responsible for the damage to the set top box, or the set top box is out of warranty, the charge for the applicable replacement set top box will be as set out in the table above.

YouView TV from Plusnet early termination charges

The following monthly early termination charges apply for customers choosing to end their YouView TV from Plusnet service within the minimum term:

Please note: If you wish to terminate the YouView TV from Plusnet package (YouView TV from Plusnet, Unlimited Fibre or Unlimited Fibre Extra product and Plusnet home phone line rental package) within the minimum term, you will be subject to the applicable early termination charges for YouView TV from Plusnet, your Unlimited Fibre or Unlimited Fibre Extra product and your Plusnet home phone line rental package as set out in this price guide). Where you remove your YouView TV from Plusnet service, any remaining services may be subject to a surcharge.

These early termination charges are not subject to VAT.

BT Sport on the Sky Digital Platform

You can activate BT Sport at any time. You will be charged for BT Sport on a pro rata basis for the term between the date you activate BT Sport and your next billing date and after that on your billing date each month.

You must keep BT Sport for a minimum term of 1 full month from your next billing date after which your service will continue on a rolling monthly basis. For example, if BT Sport is activated on the 10th January and your billing date is the 25th of January, your initial minimum term will end on 25th February. If you cancel BT Sport during the initial minimum term, you will still be charged for the whole of that minimum term.

If you cancel your broadband service from Plusnet then you will stop receiving BT Sport on your next billing date.

If you wish to cancel BT Sport from Plusnet, you must do so, by phoning us no later than 2 days before your next billing date. Otherwise you will be charged for the following month.

You may cancel your agreement before we place the order for BT Sport. If you do so, you will not be charged for the service.

Other charges

Payment processing charges

Payment will be by Direct Debit or other agreed payment method. All non-Direct Debit payments will incur an additional charge of £1.50 for payment collection and processing services.

Failed payment charges

We may restrict your service if you do not pay your bill or reach your credit threshold. We will charge you £5.76 to apply and lift any of these restrictions.

If you fail to make a payment we will apply a £7.50 administration fee to cover our costs of recovering payment, or if we try to take your payment and the payment method fails (for example your Direct Debit fails) we will apply a £10.00 administration fee to cover our administration costs associated with this failed payment. These charges are not subject to VAT.

Please note: If we have to engage our debt-collection agency to collect any payments on our behalf, you'll also have to pay the reasonable costs we have to pay the agency in addition to any of the charges above.
