How to set up powerline adapters

Find out how to set up your powerline adapters for use with your YouView or YouView+ box.

Please note: Your powerline adapters may vary slightly from those pictured.

Watch the video or try our setup guide

    1. Make sure you've got everything

To connect your Plusnet router to your YouView or YouView+ box, you'll need:

    • Two powerline adapters
    • Two Ethernet cables (black)

    2. Connect your set top box to a Powerline adapter

Plug one of your Powerline adapters into a spare socket that's close to your set top box.

Connect an Ethernet cable to the Ethernet socket on the back of your set top box and connect the other end of the cable to the Ethernet socket on the top of your powerline adapter.

Switch the powerline adapter on at the wall, the power light will turn green.

    3. Connect your Plusnet router box to a Powerline adapter

Plug the other Powerline adapter into a spare socket that's close to your Plusnet router.

Connect the other Ethernet cable to one of the Ethernet sockets on the back of your Plusnet router (don't use ETH 4 as this is required for your broadband connection) and connect the other end to the Ethernet socket on the top of the second powerline adapter.

Switch the second powerline adapter on at the wall. The Power and Ethernet lights should turn green and the Data light will turn red, orange or green, depending on the quality of the connection between the two powerline adapters.

    4. That's it

Your set top box should now be connected to your router via the powerline adapters.

If you haven't finished setting up your YouView or YouView+ box, you can continue from step 5 of the setup guide.
